Hybrid Guidewires with Hydrophilic Tip

Our hybrid guidewires with hydrophilic tips combine a supportive shaft with a lubricious, friction-reducing distal tip to facilitate smooth navigation and controlled handling. Designed to balance pushability, torque response, and flexibility, they can support access and working wire applications. Depending on the design, the shaft may feature a PTFE coating or other specified surface finish, while the hydrophilic tip helps reduce friction during navigation through complex anatomy.

Key Design & Features

  • Dual-Zone Performance: Features a stiffer, tactile-feedback shaft (often nitinol) for pushability and torque control, paired with a flexible floppy tip.
  • Hydrophilic Tip: A short (typically 3 cm to 5 cm) hydrophilic-coated section at the tip absorbs moisture to become ultra-slick, minimizing trauma and easing navigation through tight strictures, tortuous anatomy, or past stones.
  • Shaft Coating Options: The main body often uses PTFE or a standard jacket to maintain grip, tactile feedback, and prevent the entire wire from becoming overly slippery.
